Another Time and Place

Postby AndyTurnbull » Sun Oct 17, 2010 3:15 pm

I've recently started adapting Simon Furman's excellent prose tale Another Time and Place from the very last UK annual into comic form.

If you visit - http://www.pixel-cel.com/transformers/ the first two pages are drawn and lettered and available to read. The plan is to get a page a week done. Rather than hack away at the prose, I've left it in and approached it like the recent Boom Studios comic version of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.

But here are the first two completed pages.

Nice work! I was a bit worried when I read you were leaving the prose, envisioning panels of text. I guess I shoulda known better! :P
- OK to post should I ever say anything remotely interesting...

Heh.

Thanks, no I plan on trying to pace everything as well as I can so no huge chunks of text if I can avoid it.

Thanks very much.

Well the schedule is one page a week at the moment.

Funnily enough someone asked me if anyone had attempted to do something similar with State Games from one of the other UK annuals.

Actually Matt Marshall (Blueshift) has kindly offered to take up the colouring baton with these. So they will be coloured but it's easier for me to just do them and pass them on and get him to colour as and when.

The comic is very much like the Marvel UK comics at the time. Still, I would use newer character designs for the characters just for toy accuracy. ROTF Bludgeon wasn't a pretender and it had sense for him to be in his skeleton form.

I prefer the character designs that are used here. Not that I don't dig some of the newer versions of characters, but this style I feel is more faithful to the original story (for example, the "Action Master" styled Prime)

As it's a direct sequel to the UK comic I will be using that approach and those designs to maintain the feel of it.

Some work related issues meant it's been a bit delayed but here is page 3.
